Frequent transit on the TTC, part 1
Okay, I’m back from my mini-transit adventure to Windsor and Suburban Detroit (more on that in a future post). I’ve made a basic logo and layout, and it’s functional enough to get it going. Now for some actual content…
I’ve been living in Toronto for a few months now. The Toronto Transit Commission, or TTC, runs a very good service here—but it’s also an incredibly opaque one. The website mostly helps if you already know how to get there, and are more interested in schedule information; it does have a trip planner, which is mostly good. They’re still not tied in with Google Transit. The system map is a series of large PDFs. And there doesn’t seem to be a concept of a frequent transit network.
There have been some posts about this concept in other cities: Human Transit looks at some for Vancouver, and Catbus made a wonderful one for MontrĂ©al’s new Reseau 10-minutes max.
Toronto seems to have no such thing. Beneath the cut, we’ll start looking at how to make one.

Welcome!
Welcome to CowTrain!
Over the years, I’ve done a lot of writing and pictures of various travels all over the world. I’m a huge fan of car-free travel, using trains, buses, and other forms of transport to get places, and I decided that I should put all my travel-related work in one place and share it with all of you.
What? You’ll accept that cows can ride trains, but not keep blogs? Hmph.

There we are, right now, on a VIA train between Toronto and Windsor, Ontario. Checking the schedule in between building this site.
Anyway, over time I’ll be migrating content here from my LiveJournal, Flickr, and other sources, in between adventures. Welcome aboard!
